When Dr Pepper lurched in the early 90’s in Australia it was a disaster. Promoted as the next big thing a lot of people compared the flavor to cough medicine. The company that owned the rights to Dr Pepper stopped bottling it locally and ever since it has been imported into Australia at specially stores.
It is not hard to find Dr Pepper in Tasmania you can find it in the international section at most Coles and Woolworths stores as well as many corner shops, takeaways and lolly shops. The hard thing to find in Tasmania is Diet Dr Pepper, for people who can’t or prefer not to have sugary drinks finding a can of Diet Dr Pepper can be a big search. In this post I hope to make that search a lot easier.
In early 2021 I visited Swirlz on Brisbane Street Launceston next to the Princess Theatre. They had 2 cans of Diet Dr Pepper also Dr Pepper Cherry and Energy, I bought the 2 cans but in my visits since they have not got it back in stock but may be a good place to check.
In late 2021 I visited Aussie Convenience at the other end of Brisbane street next to Village Cinema. They had quite a few Diet Dr Pepper so this would be my go to place in Launceston for Diet Dr Pepper. They also had Dr Pepper Vanilla and Cherry.
As of 2024 Candy Kulture at Hobart’s Wellington Centre near Woolworths has cartons and single cans of Diet Dr Pepper and Dr Pepper Zero. Finally i have found a place in Hobart that stock it.
