Macquarie Point AFL Stadium Benefits

Macquarie Point is a great location for a new Hobart AFL stadium I will list the benefits of using this site.

Plenty of parking

One of the problems with Blunstone Arena is the lack of parking I have heard some people say that the Macquarie Point stadium would have the same issue. If you know much about Hobart and the area in general then there would be plenty of parking I will list them below.

• The Regatta Grounds – When big events like The Taste Of Tasmania and Dark Mofo are on the Regatta Grounds are opened for parking they can do the same for when AFL games are on then it would be a very short walk to the stadium.

• The Queens Domain – On weekends the domain parking spots are very empty so people could park there then walk over the The Bridge of Remembrance to the Stadium.

• The CBD multi story car parks – The 4 major CBD car parks have plenty of space at night so for night games they could do a deal with the council and owners for free parking to people who have a ticket to the game then it is about a 15 minute walk to the stadium

Lots of public transport

With the stadium being at Macquarie Point getting public transport will be a lot easier with more options then Blunstone Arena, here are the options.

• Ferries – A ferry terminal is planned to be part of the stadium they could run them from Bellerive, Kingston, Glenorchy, Bridgewater and Tranmere.

• Train or Tram – The old rail line runs right up to the stadium site. A lot of people want to see trains running back on the line but the government is pushing for trackless trams. What ever they choose the line runs all the way to Granton so it would be a great option for people that live near the line.

• Buses, Taxis or Ride share– You could catch a bus, taxi or ride share to the stadium site or the CBD.

Hotels within walking distance

If you are visiting Hobart then there are many hotel options in Hobart within walking distance to the stadium. This was one of the big problems with Blunstone Arena as you would have to drive or catch a bus from your hotel.

Lots to do before or after the game

Before or after the game you will be able to walk to a restaurant or pub and there are plenty of other activities and things to do in Hobart

A Macquarie Point stadium would be a fantastic location for sport, concerts, expos and other events and can be a big asset to the City of Hobart.
